Red face

First thanks for letting me vent! I recently bought a Josafina off ebay, I got her, and am in love. I think she is PM, the seller said she bought her for her daughter 10 years ago. Yeah I know Josie wasn't out then but not a big deal. The seller never did answer all my questions before the auction ended so I just put in a little lower bid than I would have if I had had more info. In the auction there is a picture of the Meet Josefina book and the seller answers a question saying, that the doll is like new and has no marks. Well her legs are scratched up and there are some ink marks on them as well. Also there looks to be a number 10 on the bottom of her foot. Could be initials. She definitley needs her strings tightened but I didn't feel this was something she would have known if this doll had belonged to a girl and not a collector. I e-mailed her and thanked her for the fast shipping but wondered if the book was supposed to be sent as well. I told her the doll was beautiful but that I was disappointed to see the scratches and ink marks since she had stated there were no marks. This was last Thurs/Fri and I've heard nothing back.
I had also e-mailed her after paying asking her to please verify that she had recieved payment and telling her how excited I was and if she could please give me a little history on the doll (I feel like an adoptive mother wanting to know a little about the child she's getting~~call me wierd). She never responded to that e-mail as well.
Seriously, I'm more annoyed at her lack of communication. Everyone makes mistakes, maybe she never looked at the legs or took the shoes off. Maybe what looks like the number 10 is initials lo or a nickname. I don't know but a response would have been nice. I told her right off the bat I was not looking to return the doll/refund. Oh well, I'm done. There are definitely bigger problems out there.
Thanks for listening,
Kristin

PS I would normally just vent to my family but my daughter thinks she got me this doll for $20. She really wanted to get me a Josefina for my upcoming b-day and I told her to ask her Dad to help (It's the same week as Mothers day and he owe's me about 10 years of B-day and MD gifts). Anyways, he told her no so I knew she would go to my sister next. Knowing my sister she probably would have ordered a new one and given it to my daughter to give me. I didn't want them to spend this much so I told my sister I'd find an inexpensive one, send it to her and to tell my daughter she found a great deal on one for only $20 (She's 9 and that's more than she can afford right now). That way DD feels like she bought her herself. Anyways she couldn't wait to give it to me so I got her this weekend. Like I said I'm in love!!

Try a baking soda scrub on her legs, and then Oxy10 for any ink left on them. (Leave Oxy10 on and place doll under a lamp for several hours, then wipe off w/damp cloth--repeat if necessary). You can also try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for the scratches.

Sorry for your ebay frustrations! If it were me, I would re-read the auction carefully and see if it SAYS the book is included--some auctions include pictures of items being auctioned separately, especially if the seller is a lazy/disorganised picture-taker. If the auction states that the book is included, I would email the seller about it. If there's no response in a reasonable amount of time, you can file a complaint with ebay.

Ebay sellers (and buyers!) can be a royal pain in the -inswrt whatever-!
I get so irate when there is no communication! It's the big flaw in ebay.... you never know when you will or if you will get a response!
I totally see where your coming from!

Thanks Pumpkin for symapthizing with me and to Asian AG for the advise. The scratch marks are white so I'm worried if I use anthing on them I will see more white. I just assumed that white is the color under the skin color, maybe I'm wrong but my daughters Kaya has a pink scratch on her and I assumed the same thing, that the skin color wasn't skin deep and I don't want to expose any more of the under color.
I'm just upset with the lack of communication. I don't need the book but a little honesty and an apology would have been nice.
The auction despcription was about 1 line long so I don't need to go back. She didn't mention the book but had a seperate picture of it and it there wasn't a seperate auction for it.
She's a really pretty girl, and I think I probably got lucky (in the title both girl and Josefina were spelled wrong).
Here's the auction number if anyone would like to check her out~~myabe I'll start another post introducing her to the board. I bought a AGT doll because the price was so good a few weeks back but she is a shared doll and this Josie is my first AG!!

ETA Auction #: 9507908778

The white scratch marks will come off with baking soda or magic eraser. The vinyl is colored all the way through, so there is no need to worry about removing more color. I have removed white scratch marks many times from my dd's dolls arms and legs. I was concerned the first time, but since then I have learned that with a little baking soda and scrubbing they usually come right off and are as good as new!

I have been married for 22 years and my husband forgot my birthday for most of those years. I tried to get him to at least help my kids to remember me with a card on Mother's Day, because I wanted my kids to have an example of giving, but that didn't work either. I finally gave up. About ten years ago when my own dd was nine, she talked my husband into buying me an AGT doll that looks like me. Obviously, my husband didn't need to teach my dd about giving; she was teaching him.

Then two years ago, all by himself, my husband bought me a laptop computer for my birthday. WOW ! !
This year he is going to get me Jess.
He is definitely making up for the years he missed.

I am so sorry about your bad experience with Ebay....I had one myself this past month....I paid for the item right away, within the hour...it took numerous emails and three weeks to get it....I finally got a response when I told her I was going to leave negative feedback....she finally emailed me and told me I was threatening her.....I responded with not a threat I am serious....if she had to wait three weeks for money she would already have contacted Ebay.....But overall my Ebay experience has been a good one..everyonce in a while you get one like this..

What a frustration. The thing that really gets me with eBay people - buyers OR sellers who do not communicate. I just do not understand why they don't feel it is important to talk to their partners in sale. I am really sorry for your trouble. I am glad that you love the doll though!
